Chronicles of a Selfish Mommy

Archive for April 2010

10. Volunteer 1x per quarter – Prom Shop Project!  Love it!  My favorite volunteer activity, hands down.  I didn’t get the chance to stay long, but I did  bring balloons, cookies, & waters.

18. Professional Family Photo once per yr –  We had a session with the wonderful, awesome Randy Tinney a couple of weeks ago.  Our family met him at Bull Creek and we got some really good shots! Now to pick a few to print.

34. Monthly Pedicures and Manicures – April done, but I already have to get a nail replaced – vball accidents hurt!

44. Read one book every other month –  I finished reading “Cockktail for Three” & am now reading “The Gatecrasher” both by Madeline Wickham (aka Sophie Kinsella).

49. Crown Molding in dining, living, and master bedroom – Jeff found some folks and they are coming this Tuesday to install moldings in all areas except the kids & guest rooms, bathrooms, and the “breezeway”. Woohoo!  Speaking of home improvements, Jeff did a great job updating all our bathroom light fixtures. There are a couple more big projects looming: new floors, new kid bathroom decor, new guest bedroom set, and hanging some curtains.

90.5 10k PR – This is obviously not one I had on the list as I honestly thought I would never do another 10k.  Well, I did and it went WAY BETTER than I thought it would.  A group of us ran the Capital 10k on April 11th.  It was a great course and I would definitely run it again.  I didn’t walk and I did less than 10 min miles!  I believe it was 6.29 miles coming in at 1hr 2 min 9 sec

99. Wear something OTHER than jeans once a week –  been trying to be more “professional” and have been dressing more work appropriate with slacks and skirts.

102. Watch 1 Netflix Movie a week – Astroboy, Percy Jackson & the Lightning Thief, The Proposal, & The Ugly Truth, Planet 51

I wish I could say that we are more exciting; alas, we are not.  There really is nothing new to report.  Just a quick Selfish update

We went to Tina & Malek’s Wedding the last weekend in March and had a blast!  Beautiful wedding for a wonderful couple.  I gave a toast which I was slightly nervous about, but I was told it went over well.  Damn public speaking…. all worth it for a very good friend.

Jeff’s parents came into town for a week and we just had a wonderful time chilling with them.  We went to a new restaurant, La Chapala.  It was good, but not great.  I would want to try it again, but this time without kids.  They got to see gymnastics, karate, and soccer practice for Connor which is was really nice.  We do hope to see them again soon.

Easter was nice this year.  We ended up getting invited to 3 Easter Egg Hunts.  One for our neighborhood, one hosted by my Mother’s neighbor, and then on Easter day one at my parents’ home with some of their neighborhood families as well as the Batey family.  Connor kinda got it this year and a good time was had by all.

Connor is a yellow belt in Karate, doing outstanding in soccer, loves gymnastics, and will start his 2 day a week Pre-K Class in September.  We are also researching swimming lessons, but we shall see….

Brooke is starting to run, climbs on everything, and gets extremely pissed off when Connor gets something and she doesn’t. She can say a handful of words & knows a handful of body parts.  We are hoping to start her un gymnastics this summer.

Now we’re just waiting for this weather to figure itself out.  We are very much looking forward to boating season & some fun activities this summer.  Just to name a few things we’d like to try this Spring/Summer: Marble Falls Strawberry Farm, Kiddie Acres, Sea World, San Antonio Zoo, maybe take a dip in Barton Springs &/or paddle boat on Lady Bird Lake.  One can plan and then just wish and hope….
