#11 New Recipe 1x per month: well, I didn’t get to make that cranberry chutney for our Holiday Party.  So, I am giving it a spin for our Christmas dinner.  🙂  Since I am on vacation and literally have nada to do, I plan on trying to cook more.  Here is my (far fetched) eating plan, wish me luck!

  • Sunday, Dec 21st – Balsamic & Garlic Chicken, brought to you by allrecipes.  It was just OK.
  • Monday, Dec 22nd – I am gonna try my hand at chicken pot pie!
  • Tuesday, Dec 23rd – I will be making that yummy delicious spaghetti!
  • Wednesday, Dec 24th – I will bake gingersnap & chocolate chip cookies and will attempt a new fudge recipe.  I also plan on giving bread making a try.  Not sure what I will attempt just yet…. it will either be dinner rolls for Christmas dinner or Cinnamon Rolls for Christmas morning…. stay tuned!
  • Thursday, Dec 25th – we’re having family and friends over for Christmas dinner.  This is where I will bring out that cranberry chutney I have been wanting to try!
  • Friday, Dec 26th thru Monday, Dec 29th – I believe my in-laws are coming in for a visit.  I generally don’t do much (if any) cooking when they come for a visit.  I would think we’re hitting up some places they don’t have in Tucson.

#44 Read a book every other month: well, I just finished reading Lipstick Jungle by Candace Bushnell.  I liked it, but I have liked all her books…..  I have already started Remember Me? by Sophie Kinsella – loved the Shopaholic Books, so really looking forward to this read.  Then I am gonna hit some baby books pretty hard, especially those on nursing.  Yes, (SHOCKER!) I plan to give nursing a try…. yikes!

#74 See a Play: well, we went this past Fri, Dec 19th to see Disney Playhouse Live.  Um, yea…. it was alright, but nothing awesome.  Connor even said he would have rather stayed home.  Oh well, we tried.  The whole show was about 1 hr and 15 minutes given there was a 20 minute intermission….. I am sure we’ll try this again when Brooke is 3 and Connor is 6.  Maybe then it will be more worth it.  I am gonna cross this off my list, but I SO want to see WICKED when it comes in August.  Tickets go on sale in May, I believe…..  fingers crossed!

#99 Wear things other than jeans 1x per week: does wearing nothing but sweats count?  Seriously, nothing fits anymore.  Sigh…..

#102 Netflix Flicks:  Let’s see…..I’ve watched – Zack & Miri Make a Porno, Pineapple Express, PS I Love You, & Catch & Release.

Now, I suppose, I should do stuff that really matters.  You know, stuff  like pre-register for the hospital, pack my hospital bag, start organizing & readying Brooke’s room, complete Connor’s Birthday Thank You Cards, write my yr end family update, wrap Christmas presents, complete my yr end review/self assessment, decorate/organize Connor’s room, complete decorating my home…..  ah, sweet never ending list of things to do…..

On a side note, we visited Santa and I am pleased to say that Connor talked Santa’s ear off and took some mighty cute pics!  Phew!  Last year we had a complete breakdown, so there were no pictures to be had….. I wanted to do the Trail of Lights again, but I am so not interested in fighting the crowds for something Connor is prolly not that interested in.  Maybe next yr!

Ok, so I am about 2 weeks past the one yr mark….MEH!

This was overall not a good year for the Cox family.  I have had a rough time of my career.  I am actively trying to change it, but due to the economy it isn’t looking as good as I hoped.  I’ve been pregnant for almost 1 yr, given we lost the 2nd “baby” earlier in the year. My motivation is low and my work self esteem has taken a nose dive.  I have most definitely been in a slump & I need to recover.  I am searching for what makes me happy & motivated, it’s been kinda like having a mid-life crisis (just at 30).  I just know I can find the groove in 2009!

Let’s see ….. from where I stand, it doesn’t look so good.  From my 101 List I have completed exactly 15 items & add to this my 4 from the supplemental list which brings me to a whopping 20 goals accomplished!  Uh, that’s not good…..saving grace for me?  A lot of my “goals” are of the recurring genre.  25 things on my 101 list are recurring in nature as are 5 of my supplemental, of those I have been fairly successful.

I really need to get on some of these things & I fear the coming year may be even harder since we will have an additional person in our family to care for.  I suppose this means that I will just be “renovating” my list to include Brooke and what truly will be priorities.  I will most likely add a couple more personal items to the list, but we’ll see how I feel as we move along next yr…..I have a sneaking suspicion “losing the baby weight” will need to be added.  🙂

#10 Volunteer once a quarter:  For Q3, Monica and I went to the Palmer Events Center on Dec 3rd to sort coats for the Coats for Kids Program.  We basically just went thru 2 HUGE boxes of jackets and sorted by style.  It took all of slightly over an hour, but we still did it!  The Cox Family also chose a child to give presents to this year.  We chose a little boy just a couple months younger than Connor.  We purchased many things for him and we hope that this Christmas he has something special.

#11 Prepare 1 new recipe a month: let’s see, I may actually have to say that I failed for November.  GAH!  I honestly do not think I made anything new.  Boo for me!  December I made this awesome, awesome homemade spaghetti.  I have made it at least 3x now!  I am also going to give a friend’s cranberry chutney a try for Christmas.

#19 Date w/hubby every other month: let’s see, we didn’t get Oct.  We had 2 dates in Nov, one for my 31st b-day when we went to dinner at Texas Land and Cattle then to see Max Payne.  Then while we were in Tucson, Connor stayed with his Nainie and Granddad while Jeff and I checked out Twilight.  I think this may be it for a VERY long, long time….

#34 Monthly Mani/Pedi:  this is my one indulgence.  I LOVE it and won’t give it up.  The place I go has WiFi, so I can go during lunch and still get to work!  That reminds me, need to get this one in for this month!  Maybe on Monday….

#38 & 39 Spring/Fall Cleanings & Donation: we just sent to Goodwill w/several large bags of maternity and Connor clothes, plus some other stuff from our closets.  I went thru all of Connor’s clothes boxes and divided them up btw keep, goodwill, give to friends.  Done!

#43 Use cloth shopping bags: this sometimes escapes me, but for the most part I am really enjoying doing this.  I fill fewer of these bags and they are easier to load and carry, plus they are environmentally friendly!

#44 Read 1 book every other month: I suppose I am just busting thru these bc I know once Brooke arrives that there will be no time for reading.  My List of completed books based on last post 9/7: The Undomestic Goddess, The Girlfriend’s Guide to Getting Your Groove Back, Mommy Tracked, A Tale of Two Sisters, and am currently reading Lipstick Jungle. My 3 yr now thinks that all books are read in either the bath tub or on the potty, I kid you not.

#46 Decorate Home for the Holidays: in a move that surely pissed Jeff off (did I mention he hates the holidays and spending money?), I purchased some new “fall” decor.  Basically, these are decorations that I can put out in Oct that are good for both Halloween and Thanksgiving.  Since we have a yearly Holiday party, I tend to really decorate for Christmas.  Apparently, I have a “fashion” tree which is covered in all shades of purple.  I also have lots of garland and some really cute not purple items for our entry way.  This year Jeff was totally played by me and was forced to put up outside lights.  Sometimes having kids works to your benefit…. When Connor asked us why people put lights up, I casually mentioned to Connor (in front of Jeff) that they are there so Santa can find them.  He immediately understood that we too MUST have lights put up outside, oh the thrill of victory!

#48 Clean out Jewelry Box: I did make a small attempt at this and lots of stuff went to Goodwill, but I really need to dig deep and get rid of allot more

#51 & 52 Clean out fridge & pantry:  both of these are looking pretty darned nice!  I went thru our pantry and cleared out all the outdated food.  I also organized and cleaned!  The fridge could definitely use another pass, but overall it is not stuffed with crap we don’t eat or old things.

#55 Monthly performance plan updates: well, not so good for Sept-Nov, but I am currently writing my year end self assessment!

#70 Frame Family Photo: so done!

#75 Vote in Presidential/Local Election:  totally did the early voting thing and I even did research on all the candidates to boot!

#92 Give Jeff & Connor & soon Brooke kisses every day:  this one is so easy that I just need to remove it!

#102 Watch a Netflix movie once a week: hum, I am not good about this once a week & just a couple weeks ago we cancelled Netflix… but this is what I have watched since my last update on 9/7

  • Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull
  • Journey to the Center of the Earth
  • Definitely, Maybe
  • Babylon AD
  • Get Smart
  • You Don’t Mess with the Zohan
  • Dreamgirls
  • The House Bunny

#119 Create Photo books for my grandparents once a yr: completed for this yr!

I’ve been tagged by Christy!

Since I seriously have no idea how to post pictures and am in no mood to learn…. you get this, deal with it.

Here are the rules: Copy and paste the rule instructions in your post. When posting on receiving the award, make sure you include who gave you the award and link it back to them. Post five winners and link it back to them as well. Post five of your addictions.Add the award image. Let the winners know you gave them an award by leaving them a comment on their blog.

1. The Internet – shopping, reading blogs, emails, facebook, myspace, playing games, gossip, obsessing over all the things that could go wrong with a pregnancy/delivery, porn (wait, what?!)

2. Peeing – not so much an addiction, more someone else’s will being forced or rather kicked upon me

3. Hot baths – I get to stretch out and read in peace, plus it helps my aching back

4. Reading my Us Weekly and Better Homes & Gardens – stop judging me!

5. Complaining – about being pregnant, about my toddler, about my husband, about my job, about not having the house ready….

I don’t think I am gonna pick anyone to pass this along to.  I think all maybe 5 of you who read this are awesome!

Well, well….

I am finally back.  Sometimes I really love to post, sometimes I am just so tired I don’t give a damn.  Personally, I am not much on posting right now.  However, I have been sufficiently harassed and feel I must…..

What have I been up to, you may ask….. oh gestating a baby girl who likes to kick the hell outta me, working on my career, in nesting mode with the house, planning parties (Tina’s 30th, my 31st, GNO Thanksgiving Potluck, Connor’s 3rd, our Holiday Party), traveling 13 hrs pregnant w/a 3yr by car to visit family in Arizona for Thanksgiving, getting ready for Christmas, raising a 3 yr old hell bent on being defiant, getting ready for baby #2 (hospital tour, early registration, sibling class, baby shower, baptism, her room, her registry), and dealing with a hubby who hates the holidays & spending money – is that enough for you?

I am now almost 31 weeks pregnant and have gained about 27 lbs.  Apparently my knockers are so large everyone likes to make comments about them, but we can save that for another discussion.  Maybe I’ll get lucky and keep them?  One can hope….. My belly button popped out and it hurts, no clothes fit anymore, my back aches…wait?  This is a joyous time, what I mean is – WE CANNOT WAIT TO GET THIS BABY GIRL OUT AND MEET HER!  We are fairly sure her name will be Brooke Browning Cox, but who knows, Jeff just loves to tell me last minute how much he hates things.  Side bar, for some reason I still do not believe this is a girl…..

We’ve actually hit some of the things on this list and I plan on adding still others.  Oh goals, how I love thee… let us count the ways….
