Chronicles of a Selfish Mommy

Archive for July 2008

Now that I have been doing this for 8 mths, I realize there are things that I am just never gonna really want to do…. not that I don’t like them or cannot do them, just that there are other things that are important to me…  I am changing

#43: Keep in touch w/HS friends will change to use cloth bags for shopping as often as possible.  I plan to just leave a couple in my car.  heck, I have so many from races – gotta do something good with them!

#65: Organize and File Important Documents will change to treadmill – organize my rear end, waist, and legs is what we’re gonna do!

#80: Cox & Batey extended family professional photo – seriously?! I MUST have been on drugs when I wrote this bc we all know how delusional this sounds…..  I think I will replace it w/Wii and Wii Fit.  Now, these are things I really, really want…

#83: Spend at least once a week on the boat May-Sept – laughing, gasping for breathe, tears streaming down face….. pfft, I deem once every other week enough!

#22/82: PRIVATE – WTF?!  I don’t even remember what these are for.  I am guessing they are something about Jeff and I having more “fun” time….uh, ok.  At this pt, we all get what we get…..poor Jeff, yes I know. I’ll leave them, but they are really just filler…..  😛

#105: Attend 2 YWA Events a year – ya know what?  I don’t care, I really don’t.  I didn’t even pay dues, so I am prolly kicked out anyway.  Fine by me, you’re off the list!

We’re mostly thru July and I have not accomplished much.  😦  I feel like all I do is work & cook….oh well!  I hope to bust out a couple more things by the end of this month…. for now, let’s take a look at a couple things I’ve gotten thru….

#11: One new recipe a month – this month I made a really spicy and pretty tasty jambalaya brought to you from Healthy Cooking.

#44: Read one book every other month – I have actually been reading one book every month, but I am planning ahead I suppose.  Those end of years just become so hard…. well, July’s book with the intriguing and very steamy Sperm Wars.  I COULD NOT PUT THIS BOOK DOWN!  Personally really, really liked!  I have now started the Botox Diaries.  Yes, I should be ashamed – but I am not.  I just cannot bring myself to read anything too intense, my work and personal life brings enough of that….

#56: Update resume – I just recently updated the resume with my current job role.  I realized I hadn’t done it yet, prolly bc I assumed it would change again very quickly.  Fortunately, I’ve made it 4 mths in my current role without any slightest preconception of possible movement… deep breathe!

#102: Watch Netflix Movies – let’s see I watches Meet the Robinsons.  I thought it was a really cute Disney movie, but it was a lil advanced for Connor.  I cried at the end, the song “Little Wonders” by Rob Thomas seems to get me every time…..  we also saw, I Now Pronounce you Chuck & Larry.  Silly, silly – gotta love Adam Sandler!  On a non-Netflix note, we went to see Hellboy II.  I liked it, I really did.

Now for the things I would like to get to before the end of this month….

#10: Volunteer for this quarter

#34: Monthly Mani/Pedi

#51/52: Clean out Fridge and Pantry

#70: Frame family photos & make copies for grandparents/great-grandparents

I cannot believe we are more than halfway thru 2008.  CRAZY!  I suppose I’ve just had allot going on at work & with life in general.  Quick updates of the remainder of my June accomplishments!

#19: June Date with the hubby.  This was a gimme since it was our 5th Anniversary this month.  We decided to head to McCormick & Schmick’s (hated it) and then to a movie, Wanted (decent).  Overall it was a nice evening, but nothing too exciting.

#34: Monthly Mani/Pedi at my fave spot – Walmart!  Before dinner with the ladies, Brandy and I met up for a quick mani/pedi.  I still like the ladies at the Pflugerville Wal-Mart WAY better than the RR or the Parmer ones…..

#44: Read a book every other month has turned into something I truly enjoy.  I forgot how much I really do love reading.  I finished Sophie Kinsella’s “Shopaholic & Baby”.  I personally love her style and have enjoyed following Becky Brandon (nee Bloomwood) thru her most hilarious life.  Now what to read next….

#83: Boating time!  Sometimes I LOVE to go out and other times I simply despise it.  All in all though, we have been going out at least 1x per week.  I can see this one not really working out as planned, though.  Maybe I should update to once every 2 wks…. hum….

#86: Catch some air wakeboarding is something I aspire to.  OK, maybe not aspire… but I would really like to if only I wasn’t such a big ol’ sissy.  I am noting this as a win bc I have gotten the tiniest tiniest bit of air (yes I landed, I remember the rules!)… I would say I’ve had several nice “pops” & am looking forward to more!

#99: Wear something other than jeans once a week has been fairly simple as of late given the HOT HOT weather.  Dresses, skirts, & shorts have become a staple of the wardrobe.

#102: Watch some Netflix flicks… let’s see… we’ve watched Little Miss Sunshine, Jumper, & The Spiderwick Chronicles.  I personally enjoyed all of these quite a bit!  On a non-Netflix note, we also went to see The Hulk – it was eh…  which leads to…

#40: Use Gift Cards – we finally used up all the Cinemark gift cards we had for The Hulk!
