Chronicles of a Selfish Mommy

Archive for December 2007

Now this is truly ambitious!  What with all the TV shows that I record & all the internet stuff I do…..  ha! I watched one tonight!  Yippee!  Oh, did I mention my Sundays are part of my previous week?  Yea, Monday is the start of a new week for me….. tricky!

We watched Superbad.  Quick punch – if you liked 40 yr old virgin or Knocked Up, this one is for you!  I did like this movie, but I did not think it was sidesplitting HIGHlarious.  Sorry!

Yep, I should be out…… this is my game, so I am playing by my rules.  I figured this would be tricker and more difficult than I wanted it to be.  Let me just start with this, I am lazy.  Not only do I not iron, but I barely get the clothes out of the dryer fast enough for them not to wrinkle.  On top of that, I don’t like getting up any earlier than necessary.  Why is this a concern….. bc when I put a dress or skirt on, I feel the need to up the ante on my WHOLE ensemble – make-up, hair, shoes, bag, jewelry – ladies, you know this takes extra time.  Final laziness, shaving is so damn time consuming!  I HATE shaving!  It doesn’t last but a day & on top of that I have super sensitive skin, so shaving bumps are a nightmare.  BLAH!

This project is supposed to push my limits, game on!

Darn it!  I did it twice, though.  Not terrible!  Maybe twice a week is more realistic…..  😛

I have said this many, many, many times before…. I have ZERO intention of growing old gracefully.  In all honesty, I have had some type of beauty regime since I was like 16.  HONEST!  It might not have been true anti-aging, but I have been definitely pampering and taking care of my face and neck for several years now.  About 6 or so months ago, I purchased my first real (& expensive) products.  I figured I was turning 30 & deserved as well as needed to step it up and put some real effort into the regime – did I mention 30?  It was time to sack up and get the good products.  The line I purchased was by a make-up brand that I have been using since the 7th grade – Clinique.  I got into their program bc several magazine polls have rated their line tops (in the mid-range price: pfft).

Now you ask, why then do I have this on my list.  Well, my answer: I am not consistent.  Sometimes I used them for weeks, then stop for weeks.  My goal here is to be consistent.  I don’t necessarily have to use them everyday; although, I will try.  I do, though, need to use them continuously without stopping for weeks at a time.  That’s the plan.  Right now – count me in for doing a good job!

Again, another one that does indeed come very naturally.  I kiss my son EVERY time I pick him up & I do really mean every time – even when he or I am mad.  Now Jeff, not so much.  For Connor, I am fairly certain this is gonna be a gimme.  However, with Jeff I am going to up the ante.  Instead of just a peck, I am going to work on really giving him a kiss.  Going to focus on being in the moment and put some effort into it.  I know, I know…. but I think as we age and we become even more comfortable with our significant others it becomes even MORE important to make the effort.

For some this might be hard, I myself thought it might be too.  Then I realized that I really do this quite naturally and without even thinking about it.  Not only does it make the other person feel good about themselves, but it makes me feel good too.  I truly believe that a little bit of kindness goes a long, long way.  It does seem my compliment of choice is generally the easiest one, the attire – from clothes, to shoes, to jewelry, to accessories – I zero in on those like a toddler and the cookie jar.  I think I am going to work on trying to make them MORE personal moving forward – gotta step it up a notch!

It is the Holiday Season.  With Christmas right around the corner and our annual White Elephant Party this eekend, you can bet I’ve decorated!  I still have some pieces I want to add, so I plan to do some shopping this week for those final touches.  I don’t really have a theme, but I really like snowmen and angels.  My color scheme is a range of purples, yes purple.  I suppose with all the boys in the house that this will change, guess we’ll just have to wait it out what gender Baby #2 is….
